A salford perry boy
A perry boy from Salford
inner city Salford
This image is based on the Ian Hough book ‘Perry Boys’ the casual gangs of Manchester and Salford. I was fascinated by how Perry Boys was a journey through football and fashion, which is what Manchester is predominantly known for today. The book is packed with detailed descriptions of the original fashion items worn by those who pioneered the casual look. Fred Perry is and will always remain a timeless and classical brand. 1979: The Perry Boys were a unique underground fashion subculture, emanating from inner city Manchester and Salford to become trendsetters on the terraces and nightclubs of the City. Wedge hair cuts, Fred Perry’s and northern confidence became the new order of the day.
This image is my representation of Salford and a contemporary Perry Boy.
